Allen:  Lets move on to question No. 3 that we’ve been getting from customers: You actually alluded to this a little bit with after doing this interview some of the recent news in the last week or so, there was that storm that knocked out power to 3 million homes on the East Coast and going into the Mid West.

So this question is a great one given this timeliness, the question is, “if a natural disaster or terrorist attack takes down the conventional power grid, will my Power4Patriots system still work?”

Kriss:  Absolutely, and that’s one of the biggest advantages of a system like this – is that when you’re independent of the grid or when you have back-up system that is independent of the grid, it doesn’t really matter what’s going on with the grid, so the answer is absolutely yes, now again how much you’re able to run and power depends on how big of a system you have, I get questions everyday of how many solar panels do I need to and there’s more to it -the batteries, you need the charging controls and stuff like that and Power4Patriots goes into great detail on all of those stuff on it.

But yes, terrorist attacks, all of that stuff, you’re very well insulated from all that with this system.

Allen:  Yes and I think point was really driven home recently where these folks, through no fault of their own, even if they weren’t directly in the storm area lost power because of the breakdowns in the conventional power grid.

Kriss:  Yes, and those folks are not, like you said, they’re not in the traditional blackout and brownout zones, we’re used to that alot – seeing that in California and places where they have really kind of strict environmental control – they’re not building enough power plants but the places where these blackouts recently happened I have never heard of blackouts happening there, so just shows you that this system that’s supposed to be super reliable and is supposed to be serving all of our power or everybody else’s power if I should say, is really breaking down, it’s extremely antiquated and it’s extremely susceptible to that.  If terrorists, or really anyone, wanted to take out a big chunk of the country’s communication and power it would not be very hard, a couple of well placed attacks will really shut down a huge swaths of the country and I really don’t think most of the people in this country are prepared for that.

They don’t have the preparation mind set but I think a lot of the Power4Patriots customers do and I think that’s one of the great thing about this community is that they realized that this can happen.

Allen:  Yes I will agree, I think the folks who are interested in this and our customers are 99 percent more prepared than most folks, and this its just awesome because you’re right, we’re just talking about kind of run of the mill natural storms, once you start throwing in the threat of a terrorist attack or I’ve been reading alot on Glenn Beck and Infowars about EMP attack which I’d never heard of before and you just add that to the equation and preparation goes along way, so.

Kriss:  Absolutely.

Allen:  Okay, great thank you for that answer.

I don’t know how terrorist attacks would affect our country as a whole (I don’t think it would be a good thing and bring the worst out in people that is why you need a “family” to all work together) but I liked what Wes had to say thank you for posting and posting all the comments. Unfortunately living in Florida you can’t even have a basement. I worry for my children and think the best thing I can leave to them is a place to go that is self suffecent and also the ability to start their own garden. I hope Frank B. will look at the private email I sent him and do the right thing by my family and I. I want to be part of the patriot4power team and my 13 year old son and I will be working on our panels ect and the little one are looking forward to looking things up on the internet so that as we are able to afford the parts we will be on top of that but reading all the posts and keeping updated on the thing and thoughts of other people (good or bad) keeps my enthusiasm up.

in the event of an EMP attack- wouldnt this also render the solar and wind systems usless?
It is my understandintg that anything with wires and circuit boards is pretty much destroyed.
    Is this true?

Your answers about EMP attack or sun events seemed vague but no doubt possible. But, if my off GRID capacity is producing too much power for current need, what controller do I need to add load of heater or water pumping to balance and vice-versa, if load is too great, what automatic control sheds load from least important use?

My question to some of the people that are asking about this question. Basically WHY wouldn’t it work?? You are independent of the ” grid ” and unless something gets damaged your system should keep an working. No reason not to work!!!

Please reflect some on the vulnerability of your own off the grid system to natural disasters that affect the normal grid and how you need to prepare to repair/restore your own system. I assume wind, flooding, etc. would impact the P4P system as well if you were in the zone.

is it nesesary to call the power co before you start buildin the system?

It’s not legal to attach your DIY solar system to the grid. Because your Power4Patriots solar system will be separate, you do not need to inform the power company.

So far I haven’t herd to much of what I think this should do.It sounds like to me. That I’m not going to like what this is going to cost.I’m 76 years young, and don’t know how much money I could save in the rest of what time I have.

It is good to know that if the weather gets bad and power goes down that I would still have some power.

We do need to be concerned about EMP. And we also need to know which components of an off-grid system will be knocked out and whether there is any way to protect them. I think it is for sure that any solid-state circuits will go if there is an EMP attack unless, again, there might be a way to protect them. We need input from electrical/electronic engineers about this.

An EMP will not effect the controller or inverter? Thanks, Dale.

This system sounds like I may need an electrition to get this set up for me ? I am an older man of 82 yrs,

Thanks so much for this information. It is very helpful. I had never heard of EMP attacks. What are they, and was this information in a Glenn Beck book? I’m glad you’re out there helping in so many ways.

It is my understanding that an EMP attack will kill off all electricity/electronics. If that is true, what is the advantage of the off grid system since “ALL” & “ANYTHING” electric will be out of commission. You kind of skipped over this area. Is it because you failed to grasp what an EMP attack will do or is it because you know that the off grid system will not be of any help if such an attack occurs?

To Gordon just a thought what if you built your panels bigger than is needed and put security tape around the outer side of the glass so it would not block sun raise. Do you remember the old kits you could buy for the back windows of your car well use something like that to power the tape that mite melt the snow faster???????????

What about a survival blanket, you can’t see heat signature if you are covered in one.

Will my solar panels still work after an EMP attack? Thank you.

You might consider mentioning about EMP protection for your P4P systems. As you probably are well aware, a strong enough X class solar flare could do the same or worse damage as an EMP nuke strike. (Harrington event 1856) The way protection is commonly described is with full faraday shielding cage (no gaps >1/16″) or inside a tightly sealed metal box. If unprotected in that type an event, would probably mean our charge controllers, panels and inverters would be toast ? So, I suppose building an extra set of panels (or having the necessary extra components to build more panels and a charge controller in a shielded metal box might be wise? Why not throw ina few extra electronic goodies if there is room (laptop, solar charger, digital volt/Ohm meter, or whatever electronic/electrical goodies you can’t live without.)

I’ve seen your videos, and I saw that you in America worries very much with terrorist attacks since September 11, while in Brasil we don’t worry with that!
Here we worry with high prices and burglars… not terrorists. Electric energy in Brasil is very high priced – I heard that Electricity, although we have no trouble in fournishing electricity; is the higher-priced in the world!
That’s why I bought your course, or information, as you choice. I’ll be independent of Electric Companies, although you generate with your solar panels DIRECT CURRENT – not alternated current.
But for this we have a brain: should a problem surge, we’ll have a solution for it!
Frankly, I thought you would teach me how to make SOLAR CELLS – not a panel of solar cells. But everything is all right: I shall find how!
    Truly yours,
    Murilo

I leve in the Salt Lake City area and so with the location, snow is expected. This will cover up the panels sometimes for days but being on the south side, it should melt off pretty fast depending on the temps. This is going to be problem. what is the solution? stay on grid or what. thanks

    Hi-
Like Scott below, because we live way down under in New Zealand, due to the time difference I too have already missed two of the “free-gift” talks- also because of the VP presidential debates. Also my wife still works although I am retired and usually have time for unexpected things like this, I wanted to wait and watch it with her. But it turns out she had something else planned that day after work. So I think the well intended “surprise” can come for many new at the wrong time
So far I think you have done a great job but I hope you have some flexibility here so that we can watch the talks we have missed. I was especially interested in the first one but of course I had no idea that I was going to have to take time out of a busy day I had planned for that day. And I presume there is no way to record these via my computer for use later. In any case, although I very much appreciate the gift and the great work you have done up to this point, as a former business owner I think you have to rethink this otherwise innovative good will jester because of the problems new customers like Scott and I are having. The last thing you want as a young new business is to have your newest customers immediately feel they have missed out before they even get a chance to begin using your product. So, for whatever its worth, I think you need to jump on this right away and one, warn the new customer immediately they need to make time, (which I think is not that good an idea), give them a few days, or a week to make plans to begin the series of talks because they have now had time to work it into their busy schedules. I don’t understand why you don’t just let us download, or am I wrong about that? Again, I want to emphasize what a great job you guys have done because you took a little twist in the STILL TOO EXPENSIVE stand alone power market and with your idea of how to overcome the cost problem and show us how to build and cut costs. And after years of studying this, this is the first time I have personally gone for one of these kinds of offers. So I think you are really on to something because I am sure high cost has been the killer of this market that obviously has such a wide-spread buyer interest. So if you will forgive this old dog for saying so, if you haven’t had time to market test this gift thing until now, I would highly recommend you either fix the problem guys like Scott and I have with this part of your sales close or you would be better off to drop it completely and come up with something that does not make a new customer feel he has to drop everything or lose out. Scott’s statement below, “Nice (FREE) gift!!!”, says it all.

Now, having said all that, I haven’t had time to begin reading all the wonderful material your Power 4 patriots has down loaded on my computer so I don’t know if I am being redundant here in suggesting that you offer information on what is called “rammed earth” home construction. It would be so easy to outline as the ideal self-built house for people like us who truly want the most ideal and SECURE set up short of buying an abandoned underground US missile silo launch site.
As a former Vietnam combat photographer-writer and lecturer to LEAA anti-terrorist academies, I sit and watch some of these “dooms day survivor shows” and am amazed at the stupidity of people who live somewhere out in the boonies in a wooden built house, trailer or even in a track built house, thinking they are going to fend off starving hordes of heavily armed thugs from the inner cities! (Forget that by gaining their little half hour of celebrity, those preparing for a dooms day have just handed the worst of the inner city enemies more then all the intelligence thugs need to be pre-warned about many dooms dayers security plans – but much worse – they have actually ADVERTISED on national – as well as INTERNATIONAL TV – where food in time of crisis can be found!
In many of these shows, I sit in utter amazement as dooms dayer people spell out details of their security plans for when and if the worst happens! But the most stupid thing I saw on a Dooms Day preparer show was, of an extremely obese Dooms Day instructor who after televising how smart she was about her long lasting food preparation and storage, filmed how she and her husband defended their horde even at night – silent communicating techniques – she then filmed inside her dooms day school showing potential enemies exactly how dooms dayers were trained! As Sun Tzu so brilliantly laid out in the Art of War, KNOWING the enemy while using deception AND OR KEEPING HIM IN THE DARK, pretty much summarizes how weaker enemies defeat even strong, better prepared enemies, (that pretty much also wraps up the story of how rice farmers who also read Sun defeated Superpower America and SEATO allies in VN) but I digress.
So, inner city thugs and drug lords could of course show up unannounced at dooms dayers home, and heavily armed with AKs filled with armor piercing bullets, during a carefully planned attack, would simply turn most of the dooms-day wooden built “fortresses” into confetti!
But a rammed earth house with a foot and a half to two foot thick walls allows a good strategist to defend forever and or, buy enough time for a well planned retreat via say well hidden emergency exit tunnels.
But in the mean time, it is more likely that because America and its allies are nuclear equipped the more likely scenario is going to be most wealthier nations are going to deteriorate socio-economiclly over the next few decades. That means the cost of food will sky rocket beyond more and more peoples grasp, all the while probably being compounded by an incredible rapid increase in population. So more likely this scenario is going to lead to decades of hard times where there are sporadic incidents of home invasions, (this is exactly why my NZ wife and I decided it was time to leave the nightmarish situation Nancy Pelosi, Boxer and their leftist bourgeois ilk have generated on the Left Coast in Northern California.
So to my way of thinking the rammed earth home fitted with solar and wind power is about as good as one can get because it also serves as a mini fortress that could easily handle most powerful hand held fire power. And built right, it would take explosives to get through thick wooden doors of a rammed earth house.
Hope I didn’t ramble on too long and again my wife and I looking forward to receiving all the rest of the materials. Wes Davis, Red Beach, North Island of New Zealand.

MY bad it came on the second or third time I tryed it. However my P4P system will only work if there is a disconect set up between my P4P and the main grid to isolate it so it doesn’t back feed down the line. Right?
